🚚Logistics & Supply Chain

Optimize routes, packaging, and fulfillment with data — not instinct.

Logistics teams make thousands of operational decisions that compound across shipments, routes, and facilities. Decision Process helps you run controlled experiments on routing algorithms, packaging formats, and warehouse strategies — and measure the real cost and speed impact.

Delivery Routing Algorithm Comparison

Dynamic re-routing reduces average transit time vs. static daily route planning.

Conditions

  • Static route plan (control)
  • Dynamic re-routing

Metrics

  • Transit Time (hours)
  • On-Time Delivery Rate (%)
  • Fuel Efficiency (mpg)
Route+8.5pp on-time rate

Packaging Format Comparison

Poly mailers reduce shipping cost vs. boxes without increasing damage rate for soft goods.

Conditions

  • Standard box (control)
  • Poly mailer

Metrics

  • Cost per Shipment (USD)
  • Damage Rate (%)
  • On-Time Delivery Rate (%)
Shipment−23% shipping cost

Warehouse Pick Path Optimization

Zone-based picking increases units-per-hour vs. order-based picking.

Conditions

  • Order-based picking (control)
  • Zone picking
  • Batch + zone

Metrics

  • Pick Rate (units/hr)
  • Order Accuracy Rate (%)
  • Cost per Shipment (USD)
Warehouse zone+41% pick rate

Worked Example

Static vs. dynamic routing across 420 delivery routes

A regional carrier randomly assigns daily delivery routes to two planning approaches: routes set at start of day (static) vs. routes updated in real-time using traffic and demand data. 210 routes per arm, measured over 6 weeks.

Results: on_time_delivery_rate (%)

Static route plan (control)

mean: 81.2%

95% CI: 77.4–85.0

Dynamic re-routing

mean: 89.7%

95% CI: 86.3–93.1

P(better) = 98%

Dynamic routing improves on-time delivery by +8.5 percentage points (d = +0.73, large effect) at 98% posterior probability, with a secondary improvement in fuel efficiency. Transit time reduced by an average of 14 minutes per route. Recommendation: implement dynamic routing across all metropolitan corridors.
